WTSH CO-HONOREES – Randy Terry (right) and Jennifer Seals (left), festival president and general chairman respectively, are proud to announce Jeff and Laurie Gamble will serve as co-honorees of the 75th Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival this May. Both Jeff and Laurie have been heavily involved in the festival since moving to Humboldt in 1983. Jeff served as president in 1999 and Laurie was president in 2010.

One of Humboldt’s most giving and community minded couples now has another feather in their hat. Jeff and Laurie Gamble will be co-honorees of the 75th Annual West Tennessee Strawberry Festival. Centerville Cemetery meeting

The annual meeting of the Centerville Cemetery Association of Medina will be held Tuesday, January 31 at 2 p.m. at Akin Trailer Rentals located at 27 Jackson Hwy, Medina.

Pageant to benefit CP Center

The Queen of Hearts beauty pageant to benefit the Carl Perkins Center will be Feb. 4, hosted by the Gibson County Youth Leadership. Queens, ages 6-21 will be eligible to compete in the Strawberry Festival Territorial pageants. Entry forms must be received by January 28. For forms and more information, call 855-0973, the Greater Gibson County Chamber of Commerce.

Gibson County GOP to meet

The Gibson County GOP will meet at Perkins Restaurant in Milan on February 7th at 6:30pm. Come earlier for dinner. Our speaker will be Zach Poskevich. Zach Poskevich is challenging Bob Corker in the 2012 Republican Senatorial Primary. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.    

Freewill Shelter fundraisers

Freewill Shelter and Outreach will be having a fish fry    Friday, January 27, from 12 to 4 p.m. They will also be serving pigs feet and dressing, Saturday, January 28,  all day. Chitterling dinners will be held Saturdays, February 4 and 11 for a donation. Other items will also be available at Daddy’s Kitchen Table with proceeds going to the shelter and outreach. The shelter’s thrift store on 22nd Ave. and their bargain store on Main Street is also open.

Pageant to benefit GC Friends of Animals

Mr. and Miss FOGCA Pageant, the second annual beauty pageant to benefit Friends of Gibson County Animals, will be held Saturday, February 18 at 5 p.m. at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Humboldt. Girls 0-21 and Boys 0-5 are welcome to enter, with all boys starting at a special time at 4:30 and girls starting at 5. One fee includes all side categories. Along with the pageant, FOGCA Sweethearts is open to all contestants who raise a certain amounty for FOGCA.
