Wayne and Ronda Evans, owners of River City Antique Mall Inc. , are answering the questions for today’s Small Business Snapshot.
What is the primary purpose of your business? To provide a shop that has a wide range of products from oil paintings, armoires, bedroom suits, lamps, glassware and flower arrangements to nostalgia items.
What is your business background? Wayne works with a family owned business. Ronda has been working with antiques for over three years.
Why did you start this particular business? Putting our thoughts and prayers together we knew the location and large amount of parking was perfect for an antique mall. The building seemed to be built for River City Antique Mall.
What makes your business unique? We have a clean, beautifully decorated and affordable home décor mall. We have an eclectic mix of new, antique and refurbished furniture, oil paintings, wall art, accessories and many other items for use in the home and garden. We have over 10,000 square feet of space with over 50 booths with dealers. We have a range of estate sale furniture, auctions and containers of antiques. Custom made gift baskets with Savannah Bee Honey, specialty soups and dips and gift certificates are also available. You are sure to find something extraordinary hidden within.
What do you enjoy most about your chosen profession? We have been able to meet so many nice people and feel that we have made lifelong friendships. First timers are welcome and, after that visit, you are considered to be family.
What has been the biggest or most interesting challenge to overcome as a small business owner? The most challenging part is making sure that our customers are all treated with personalized service even when we get extremely busy. We have tried to create a place to shop or just walk and escape everyday circumstances.
