Two men who have excelled in the military and in life, yet who are known for ‘giving back’ were honored Thursday night as they were inducted into the Humboldt Hall of Fame. Humboldt natives Quinton Martin and Max James both recalled how their roots in Humboldt gave them the attitude of service and excellence that has propelled them to the lives they live today. Gov. Bill Haslam was welcomed by a large crowd at the annual Governor’s Luncheon after the Grand Floats parade Friday. He was introduced by Humboldt Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sherri McCarter. Leaders in training
Do you have a child who is 13-15 years old? Gibson County YMCA has a special summer program called Leaders in Training: field trips, life skills, swimming. This program will be from May 20 – July 26. Call 855-7516 for more information.
Freewill workday
Freewill Shelter and Outreach will hold a workday at the Freewill Fellowship Hall at 510 W. Main, Saturday, May 18, beginning at 8 a.m. Electricians, plumbers, carpenters and painters are needed to prepare the building for use.
