Glynda Smith, well known floral designer, will present a program at Gibson Garden Club’s monthly meeting on March 12 at 1 p.m. at Gibson Baptist Church fellowship hall. Her floral designs have been featured in numerous national publications, including Southern Living and HGTV. Admission is free.
Heart Saver class set
There will be a Heart Saver CPR class Saturday, March 8 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Morning Star Community Outreach Stigall Center. The class is “free” and cost covers supplies and card fee. This class is for those that want to get certified as a workplace or school requirement. Class size is limited. Freewill Shelter’s 10th annual anniversary celebration, March 8, 2014, will be held at St. James Baptist Church 701 W. Main Street, Humboldt, Tenn. at 6 p.m. This is sponsored by Spiritual Gifts of West Tennessee. Come celebrate with Freewill and praise our father’s name! There will be door prizes, speakers, gospel singing and our hearts will be rejoicing with the Lord!
A prayer breakfast will be held at Daddy’s Kitchen, 405 West Main St., Humboldt, Saturday, March 8 at 9 a.m. It is sponsored by One Focus Ministries of Jackson, Pastor Tomar Beard. The breakfast benefits the Freewill Shelter and Outreach Ministries. Encouragement speakers are Evangelist, Terry Rice; Dorothy Emery and Minister Cole. Donations will be taken at the door.
Ms. Fashionetta Scholarship pageant
The members of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, Inc. Theta Eta Omega Chapter will host the 2014 Ms. Fashionetta Scholarship pageant on Saturday, March 9, 2014 at 4 p.m. The pageant will be at Peabody High School – Nite Lite Theatre in Trenton, Tenn. The special guest performance will be by M.U.S.I.C. Tickets available in advance or at door. Prom Closet March 8
Junior Auxiliary of Humboldt is hosting a Prom Closet Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 10 a.m.-12 noon at Humboldt High School. They will be giving away free, gently used, gowns and accessories for prom. Drawings will be held for free hairstyle and manicures.
Retired teachers to meet
The Gibson County Retired Teachers will meet March 12, at 10 a.m. at Trenton City Hall. “Show and Tell” will be part of the program. Discussion on changes to their onstitution will be addressed. Refreshments will be served and a name will be drawn for the yearly prize drawing in May. All teachers are welcome.
